Fight Night: Jack Loew brings amateur boxing to the Metroplex tonight

It's been a long wait but boxing finally returns to Youngstown tonight as Jack Loew's Southside Boxing Club will bring a loaded amateur card that includes a handful of local talent to the Metroplex tonight.

Representing Loew's Southside Boxing Club are Isaac Johnson, Devon Tate, Jackson Behun, and Antwane Peoples.

The main event of the card will be a heavyweight Masters Division fight between Tony Scandy of Southside Boxing Club and a nephew of Ray Boom Boom Mancini, Jason Cosa.

This will be the second Master Division fight for Scandy who scored a knockout victory in his previous fight.

"I've put in the work for this fight," said Scandy.  "I went to war with a 30-year-old monster in sparring, I put in my running, put in mitt work with my son Anthony who is 2-0 with two stoppages in his Barstool Rough and Rowdy career and who will be in my corner, I got a heavy bag in the basement so if he beats me then hats off to him he's earned it".

While Scandy, who is considered to be the nation's top breeders of Cane Corso's pushed himself to the limits for this fight, he found inspiration in the Scandifio Cane Corsos youth softball coach in the Mill Creek League he coached this summer to help push him even harder.

"I coached my daughter Sophia's team and when it got time for running the bases they couldn't stop they wanted to line up and do more.  They're running singles, doubles, triples, home runs, and these six, seven, and eight-year-olds are just so pumped and wanting to run more and they are all happy and smiling and that's what I think about when I needed the motivation to get out the track and run".

While coaching his daughter's youth team helps Scandy stay in touch with one of the things in life he loves, the game of baseball, participating in tonight's fight is a way for Scandy to stay involved with the other sport he loves and its future in the Mahoning Valley.

"I want to see people come out and support the kids from Southside Boxing Club and all the other local gyms and come out and see the real fights and get behind these kids and get them a following they deserve".

Win or lose tonight, Scandy knows he put in the work and wanted to personally thank Jack Loew, John Hutter, and his son for their dedication in helping him train as well as a shout out to Antwane Peoples for the wars they had in sparring in getting each other prepared for their bouts.

Tickets will be available at the door which opens at 6:00 for $20 and for those out of town or who can not make the fight, a pay-per-view stream is available to purchase for $15 by clicking here with proceeds benefiting Must Love Corsos Rescue, and Friends of Fido Mahoning County.
