Sometimes a New Year means time for a change and as 2018 came to a close, Las Vegas-based boxing promotional company VegasStar Boxing announced that they were changing their name to VegasChamp Boxing.
Youngstown native and managing member Bill Nelson announced the move a few weeks ago on social media with the following post:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances that have arisen concerning mistakenly associating our name, VegasStar Boxing, with any other Boxing entity, and in an effort to avoid any possible future conflicts, we have made the decision to change our name to "VegasChamp Boxing" and will go forward as such immediately. Our business is up and running as usual (new website will be added soon), and all of our contact information remains the same."

Nelson, who has lived in Las Vegas since 1983 when he relocated after falling victim to the economic hardship which hit Youngstown hard with the collapse of the steel mills and founding partner, Las Vegas lawyer Marvin Simeon added a huge piece to their roster a few months ago in signing former seven-time world champion female boxer, Melissa Hernandez.
